Trembling, frightened,
I stand alone.
The night closing in.
The storm’s fierce winds
Whipping my face with wet hair.
The thunder rumbles,
Chasing its lover lightning,
And giving me chills
As it vibrates
The very ground I stand upon.
Even as I am scared,
I long for a lover
As fierce as the thunder
And dark as the night
That swallows me whole.
I want a lover
Who both frightens
And intrigues me.
But the only lover I have
Is the night.
I bide my time
Until my own lover,
One of flesh and blood,
Powerful and handsome,
Comes for me.
Then,
Even as the storm clouds
Roll away
Then will I be carried
Away by my own lover.
