0069 These Dreams [20 August 1997]

Dreams.
Windows into the future.
Memories recalled in the night,
fears revealed, before unknown.

I encounter many things
in the dead of the night,
when my heart is slowed,
my brain dormant with thoughts.

Yet at this time,
of usual peacefulness,
I encounter,
those things unusual.

Cities are born,
towers constructed,
creatures born
and civilizations grow.

Those are the dreams
I transfer to paper
to be experienced by others
and understood by others.

What meaning do they hold?
Why do they come to me?
Is it for my sanity?
Or for other’s insanity?

Cities destroyed,
towers crumbled,
creatures die,
civilizations regress.

These dreams also occur,
crying out the future.
These dreams warn
of terrible nights.

And yet through it all,
the dreamkeeper,
whoever it is,
keeps them in my head.

My memory holds thousands
