Author’s note: Sometimes I read my poetry and just have to smile in amusement. This one was written with a Southern belle/Regency woman point of view.
Why must you be so dashing?
For in a single moment,
You take away my breath
Like some robber stealing valuables.
Never before
Have I met you.
You are so daring
Yet so charming.
Your eyes catch the light
In a mischievous way.
Your smile can charm
Even the coldest young woman.
I cannot resist
But smile in answer.
Hoping that handsome smile
Was only meant for me.
But I do declare
That I do know better.
For you, I think
One woman is too little.
