In my dreams I am courted
by one enshrouded in black.
As dragon as I am,
able to move from human form and back.
I only know that with him,
the mate I am to find,
I shall be complete.
His soul the one I have searched for
since I knew I was missing that part.
I know his dragon-form from one ebony wingtip
to the other,
from his elegant wedge-shaped head
to the tip of his beautiful tail.
I know the rusty-colored eyes
that he sees me with as I look back at him
with my dragon’s sapphire blue ones,
but his human form is a mystery to me.
The only consolation being he doesn’t know mine.
He will be the peace I’ve searched for all my life.
The one true person who will love me
from one silver wingtip to the other,
from the tip of my human head to my toes,
everything in between.
He shall be my home, my shelter, my peace
as I shall be his.
