In the silence that is night,
do I see you in my dreams.
Ever present,
like a song playing endlessly in my mind.
I know not your face,
nor how your eyes laugh when I say something funny,
I just know your presence.
It is safe,
comforting,
solace from a world intent on beating me down.
I see your form clearly,
your face though unknown.
At times though I do wonder
if you are real or if you are a dream.
I know your voice,
the lilting quality tempered by the tender deepness
that I hear through time and distance unfathomable.
I know you as I have never known any man before,
yet I know nothing about you.
Funny how that works.
Speak to me again so that I may know you
more and more as each day passes.
Do not forget me for I cannot forget you,
you have touched my soul
as no other has.
