I made it
that last step towards you
towards forever
so I look back
to see a canyon
that was once between us
and I smile
it had seemed like a continent
but it was only a canyon
a large step
but much more exaggerated
than what it really was
I feel a peace descending
upon my soul
a happiness that fills me
to the brim and always overflowing
I love you and it is no lie
for your smile gives me life
your touch breathes air into my lungs
if there be another canyon to cross
another wall to breach
to be closer to you
gladly will I attempt it
and succeed I will
for you I would swim an ocean
and drown because I tire out
but I would attempt it
for you anything is not enough
though most of the time
one step is all it takes
