sleep eludes me
as does love
as I lay awake in darkness
trying to grab hold
of the sandman’s dust
only for it to avoid me
completely
I turn onto my side
and though you are not there
the soul who completes me
I feel you with me
your arms around me tight
your body pressed against mine
your hot breath
caressing the back of my neck
a peace descends upon me
one that will only
be felt with you
a sigh escapes my soul
my eyes closing
as only with you there
can I finally dream
safe in your embrace
