632 Soul [29 July 2004]

A sliver of my soul
wishes to remain
among the shadows
of the half-life
that I live.

The core of my soul
wishes to gain
the wings of love
soaring away into
cotton candy clouds.

The whole of my soul
wants nothing more
than to know you
as you are now and
past that into the future.

The remaining pieces of my soul
cower in fear
afraid of any word
that might drop from my mouth
revealing all I feel within.

I love who you are.
I care for the man you’ve become.
and I wish to know you
until I am no more
than a memory
in the blue of the sky.

The sky reflects
the blue in your eyes.
Those eyes that speak so loud.
I cannot turn my back on you.
I do not want to leave you here.

But all roads lead away
from this place where you are,
and even then
your own road moves the opposite of mine.
Do you mind if I look back?
Or remember the beauty of you?
You might not think you are,
but you are the most beautiful part
of this life that is mine.

You cared.
And that changed me,
forever.
