647 Her Goodbye [15 October 2004]

Unexpectedly, she turns to him,
“You never loved me,
you never could.
I know what I am,
I am the one who
will never know love.”
He frowns at her confession,
her reprimand, her sorrow
Could she be anything?
To him?

She feels the tears threaten
Turns her head
Forces a smile in her voice
As she says goodbye
Feeling the distance grow
As she walks away from him
Knowing her own existence now
Because of the pain within
That will never disappear
Only strengthen in time.
