700 Sidewalks [20 April 2005]

She walks down the sidewalks of concrete indifference,
the cold apathy of night enclosing about her.
Living in a world of billions,
the lights of their lives shining through the darkness,
still she feels all alone.
Lost is the road she knows she must follow,
she begs to be found, to be seen.
If one man’s eyes might know her
than despair would vanish.
Thus would her own eyes open
able to see her path once more.
