809 Summer Gaze [14 July 2007]

Your eyes clear,
river blue.
Your face honest,
bronzed by love of the sun.
I cannot seem to let go
of these feelings rekindled
that rise in my breast
and fill my mind with moments
that will never occur.
I turn to you,
knowing that I will not find
what I seek but hoping
that in your presence,
I can overcome this loneliness
that paints my days in winter darkness
with the brightness of your summer gaze.
